Ms. Sarah Schupanitz
Hi there! My name is Sarah Schupanitz and while this will be my fourth (full) year at Capitol Hill, this is my 11th year teaching. Though I'm originally from Plymouth, I began teaching in St. Louis, Missouri. A few years ago, I moved back to Minneapolis and taught in the city and metro area, though I'm happy to make Capitol Hill my home!
I am the AVID Elective teacher and AVID Site Coordinator at Capitol Hill. I am finishing up my first year in this new position and I am excited to watch the AVID program grow at our school. Take a look at the Capitol Hill AVID site to learn more about this unique class.
I live in St. Paul with my energetic dog, Luna. When I'm not at school, you'll find me reading a book, thrifting around the cities, at yoga, or riding my bike. This summer, I enjoyed paddleboarding on Lake Harriet, and this winter I am hoping to do some snowshoeing so I can stay active outside! I also listen to a lot of Taylor Swift and Lizzo, and have rediscovered how great Fleetwood Mac is, so please don't judge me if you catch me singing in my car or between classes! :)

This site explains what AVID is and what we do in this elective class at Capitol Hill! Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are due Friday, April 14th!
I am one of the masterminds behind The Capitol Hill litmobile! Read about our efforts during the 2020-2021 school year in TIME Magazine!
Do you have ideas about how we can keep the litmobile alive beyond distance learning? Let me know! We'd love to have a parent-supported book wagon or library activity!
