Ms. Lisa Larson

My name is Lisa Larson. I am the school social worker at Capitol Hill Magnet School.  I have a Masters of Social Work degree through the University of St. Thomas/College of St.Catherines and a Twice Exceptional Education Certificate from the University of St. Thomas. I am looking forward to beginning the 2020-2021 school year with students, families and staff at Capitol Hill. I am honored to have been a part of Capitol Hill for the majority of my social work career in educaiton.  Capitol Hill is an amazingly dynamic community that has allowed (required) me to continuously grow as a professional and a human being.  I am committed to creating a safe place for students where they can feel free to be unapologetically themselves.  I strive to help them understand that there is nothing wrong with them and that they just need to figure out how they connect and how they can use their strengths to succeed in the world around them.   My areas of interests include issues related to Equity, neuroscience, trauma, and alternative therapies.  I am currently learning more about how diet, nutrition and the gut biome impact mental health.

At Capitol Hill, I work with students in grades 1-8. I am appointed half-time in special education services and half-time with general education students. I meet with students on an individual basis, in groups and sometimes spend time with them in the classroom.

I attempt to respond to messages via email or telephone within 24 hours or less and check for messages throughout the day.
