WELCOME TO SECOND GRADE!

Bonjour!

Welcome to the wonderful world of 2nd Grade! I am so excited to be a part of the Capitol Hill  community. I am a firm believer of the power of curiosity and fun that exists in learning, and can’t wait to experience the many adventures that await us this coming school year.

I began my teaching career in Réunion, a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. For a year I was an English teacher at two elementary schools and affirmed my love for traveling and the many benefits when working with children. Upon my return to The States, I completed my Elementary teaching license, Masters of Arts in Teaching and Urban Education Certification from Hamline University. At this time I also began to work in St. Paul Public Schools as a Special Ed. Teaching Assistant.

LNFI (L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion) was my school family for the last two decades, where I was able to use my love of the French language daily in my classroom. During those years, I was blessed with amazing colleagues and incredibly supportive families. I have taught first through third grade, landing in second grade for the last ten years.

I LOVE 2nd grade! I consider myself fortunate to have had the different teaching experiences – they have challenged me as an educator, rewarded me with many opportunities to reflect upon my practices, and strengthened my commitment to creating a learning environment that is filled with love, laughter and creativity.

The need for professional growth and self discovery has led me to Capitol Hill. I have been connected to the CH community my entire life, as my mother recently retired from teaching here for 25+ years. There is a feeling of “coming home” that I have felt after making the decision to come to CH this school year. Capitol Hill is truly a unique community with so much to offer to every child and adult that is a part of it. I feel honored to call it my home-away-from-home!
