1st Grade

Welcome to 1st Grade at Capitol Hill! We love our Firsties!

 

Welcome to first grade at Capitol Hill! We look forward to an incredible year of teaching and learning together! 

First grade is a year of tremendous growth! Students will start out the year practicing inquiry through the study of bees and learning about phenology, economic choices, and our country. They will continue their learning by studying various cultures and traditions found in our classroom and all around the world.  

The latter part of the year is full of learning about extraordinary people through biographies and the world of mapping and geography. All of this on top of becoming voracious readers, math problem solvers, and authors! First graders also practice having a growth mindset and learn ways to be mindful by expanding their knowledge of how the brain works!
