Anne Beach

Anne Beach

Assistant Principal- Middle/Jr, Middle School

Hi! My name is Anne Sawyer Beach, pronouns she/her/hers and I'm very grateful to be a Literacy Coach at Hidden River Middle School, which is where I attended junior high back in the day!  I've been working in education since 2004 including roles as Literacy Coach, middle school or high school English teacher, 3rd-6th grade teacher in Germany, and youth/high school sports coach in various Twin Cities public school districts. I taught ELA at our school from 2013 to 2019 before starting my journey as a coach and educational leader specialist. As a literacy coach, I get to support and collaborate with teachers, students, and families in achieving their goals. I believe our students bring rich, personal literacies and brilliance and deserve our very best teaching and care. I also believe, as Dr. Gholdy Muhammad does, that, "...It is our job as educators to not just teach skills, but also to teach students to know, validate, and celebrate who they are," so you will find me acting accordingly!

When I'm not at Hidden River, you might find me and my family (my life teammate and two sons) on a hockey rink, on a tennis court, out running, biking, hiking, exploring cool stuff in the Twin Cities, reading, writing, or hanging out with neighbors and friends

Here are some helpful places to visit to support our students' literacy development:

~Your one-stop shop for student/family info

~Schoology~ Find your teacher's pages and access your student learning and grades.

~Clever Log in for helpful literacy links like Mackin Via

~ Write Right Rite Series by Jason Reynolds: Lots of awesome writing prompts to keep us writing our stories into the world and exploring our voices.  Try these at home, at school, or wherever!

Doua Vang

Doua Vang

Assistant Principal- Middle/Jr, Elementary

Hi, my name is Ms. Doua Vang and I am the Elementary Assistant Principal.  This is my 4th year here at Capitol Hill.  I have been working in St. Paul Public Schoosl (SPPS) for over 21 years.  Students and learning are my passion.  I taught grades 2-5 for 13 years before becoming an Assistant Principal.

I am a product of SPPS, graduating from Highland Park High School. I am married with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls.  All have attended or are currently attending schools in SPPS and 2 have have graduated from Harding Hgh Shool. We also have a chihuahua named Apollo.  He is 4 years old and we had him since he was 1 month old.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and going on walks.  I also like traveling and exploring new places and things. A fun fact about me is that during college I was a live-in nanny for 2 young girls.

Even though we are in Distance Learning, I am available to connect with you by phone or email regarding any concerns about your student(s).  I am looking forward to an amazing year. Go Cougars!
