Week of 4/28/2008 Because the pocket book of poems is due on Thursday, students should be working on them at home if necessary. Most students need to find more poems than they have right now. On Tuesday, weather permitting, we will write poems on the sidewalk surrounding the school, with chalk. We will start the Greek Mythology unit on Thursday or Friday, depending on how much time we spend sharing the pocket books on their due day. Thursday: Students should research these gods : Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Ares, Apollo, Dionysus, Hermes, and Hephaestus. Over the weekend they should research: Hera, Hestia, Demeter, Artemis, Aphrodite, and Athena. Students will know their role, symbols, animals, inventions, characteristics, and family members. Next week they will use their research to make a chart, notecards or paperdoll of this information.
