Capitol Hill Gifted and Talented Magnet School
Welcome back to a new school year. I will continue to send weekly homework updates this year. As your children progress through their 8th grade year, they should come to depend on these e-mails less and less. Many made great progress with their organizational skills last year, and I am confident that they all have what it takes to become much more independently organized by the end of the school year. As you shop for school supplies, consider setting your child up with the binder system many used last year. Students took a 3 inch binder and used a three hole punch to allow them to place a notebook and a folder into the binder for each period of the day. That way nothing ever left the binder. They simply flipped to the correct section during each class. Many also placed a zipper pouch at the beginning of the binder to hold pencils, pens, and other supplies. Some students used two 2 inch binders and created one for their morning periods and one for their afternoon periods. I purchased many notebooks and folders during the summer sales, but if any of you have extra binders at home or work, we always have students who would use them. You can just drop them off at the office. Enjoy the last days of summer! I look forward to working with you again. Dawn Peterson P.S. If you would like to be deleted from this e-mail list, please let me know.
