Monday, Oct. 6 We took more eagle notes today. Students should have started about 40 to 70 noted cards by now. Starting Wednesday we will add the other five components to the cards, which will become sentences or groups of sentences.
Remind your students that they should be brainstorming and developing ideas for Open Topic writing. Also, we are starting Spelling on Wednesday (tested the next Wed.)
Tuesday, Oct. 7 We have finished taking notes. Most kids have 40-60, which is about right. Tomorrow we will begin filling in the other information on the note cards, like reasons for the note, compare and contrast with other animals, examples of notes, and definitions of terms that appear in the notes.
Wednesday, Oct. 8 Students must bring their note cards and spelling lists to school with them on Friday. Today the first two classes almost finished their note cards! Tomorrow the second two will do theirs.
Thursday, Oct 9 We made great progress yesterday and today toward finishing our note cards. Tomorrow we will add the last (like or unlike) piece. We will also go over the spelling list and finish annotating the words (ask your kids; they know). Remind your offspring that all parts of the note card must be labeled according to the model card they made today. The notes will be graded!
Friday, Oct. 10 By Monday all note cards need to be completed. Be aware that some of the numbered portions of the card may or may not be filled in. Look at your student's spelling list and ask him/her about the notations.
