Welcome!
This is my sixth year teaching at Capitol Hill
and I am thrilled to be back in the classroom after a fantastic
summer and a wonderful maternity leave! I got to spend 5 months with my beautiful baby boy - Lukas Saindon:) What an amazing blessing! After a wonderful break, I am refreshed and ready to head back to the classroom for what I believe will be an awesome fun filled year!
More about me:
I graduated from the
University of Minnesota Institute of Technology in 2002 with a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Mathematics. While attending school, I taught a
college algebra course for the U of M General College. I also worked as
a teaching assistant for the University of Minnesota Talented Youth
Mathematics Program (UMTYMP). For two summers, I taught at a math camp
called Summer Explorations in Science, Engineering and Mathematics
(SESEM). I would be more than happy to explain more about these great
programs. If you are at all interested in getting more information,
please contact me.
Immediately
after completing my undergraduate
degree, I then started my Master's Degree in Education also at the
University of Minnesota and received my teaching certificate for 5-12
mathematics. In 2002-2003, I taught at Patrick Henry High School in
Minneapolis. It is wonderful to have landed at Capitol Hill! I finished my master's degree in 2008 and even got to present at the National Council of Teacher's in Mathematics (NCTM) Conference in Atlanta, GA ! Sweet!!
Hobbies:
When I am not correcting homework and trying to keep the parent
portal grades updated, I
enjoy spending time with my baby Lukas. He's so cute and smiley!!! We had an awesome summer swimming and relaxing on the beautiful deck that my husband Josh and I built. I can't wait to get back together with my band after a long summer off. I miss singing!!

Daily Sudoku
Caution: Very addicting puzzle following this message!
Daily Sudoku is something that I discovered a few summers ago and
I haven't been able to stop doing them. They can be very fun and
very challenging. I will be giving students the opportunity to do
some in math class throughout the year. Try one out, but be
careful. It will be very hard to stop:) Don't say that I didn't warn you!
There is only one rule: Every row, column and box of 3x3 cells must contain the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once.
