2006-2007 will be my sixth year teaching world geography at Capitol Hill. I have greatly enjoyed teaching this class and working with the students.

My career path has been an interesting one. I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Mass Communications with a Broadcasting emphasis and minor in Speech Communication.

My quest to broaden my horizons led me to shift careers from television to management. I worked 7 1/2 years for Target Corporation in various managerial capacities. My jobs were challenging and fun. I learned a lot and worked with all sorts of people from around the world.

In 2000, I began taking courses at the University of St. Thomas and after my very first education course, I knew that I wanted to be a classroom teacher. I finished my Master's Degree in Education and graduated in July 2001.

Teaching is very important to me and I have enjoyed it a great deal. Helping to mold the leaders of tomorrow is a responsibility that I don't take lightly. I am committed to each child that is in my class.

In order to become a more "global community" I feel that exposure to various cultures, customs, rituals, beliefs and experiences, will enable my students to be more informed and more aware. I do challenge my students to think (especially thinking outside of the box) and have high expectations. It is my expecation that each of my students work to his/her fullest potential. Whatever the level of potential, I expect the highest effort possible.

I am married and have one daughter who is a 9th grader. I greatly enjoy basketball,
reading and traveling. My family and I have traveled to many of the states in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. I coach the girls volleyball and basketball teams at Capitol Hill. I'm also the student council advisor for 7th and 8th grade.
