Students in Concert Choir will • Sing on pitch with varying degrees of expression holding one of 3-4+ parts within a small group & individually • Learn & practice proper choral etiquette, posture, and techniques • Understand and be able to apply the following music theory concepts in singing and composition; - Musical elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, form, and expression - Note names (both bass and treble) - Note & rest values (whole, half, quarter, eighth, dotted) - Time signatures (4/4, 2/4, 3/4, 2/2) - Musical terminology - Music staff symbols & concepts - Scales & modes - Basic I, IV, V chords • Differentiate between historical and culturally diverse styles of music • Perform sight singing skills in small groups & individually • Use choreography while singing • Show respect toward others' individual music skills & interests • Perform 3-5 part music in a group or individually for concerts & assemblies
