Hello!
My name is Sharon Armus and this will be my 4th year at Capitol Hill Magnet. I have been with St. Paul Public Schools for 8 years and before this I worked with adults who had neurologically based speech/language difficulties. I grew up in Ohio, graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and received my Master's Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Minnesota in 1984. I also received the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association in 1984.
I love working with children as they have opened my eyes to love, life, adventure, and fun! Special Education is a wonderful way to teach values of diversity, acceptance, patience, and appreciation of differences among us all. I have served on the Minneapolis Special Education Advisory Council as a parent , as my own child has special needs. This has helped to give me an appreciation for special education from both the perspective of a professional and a parent.
I cross the river every day from Minneapolis, where I live with my family . In my spare time (ha, ha) I enjoy walking while I listen to books on tape, bike riding with my boys, listening to public radio, and dabbling in jewelry-making and recently I have re-ignited my interest in knitting, which is something my grandmother taught me when I was 6 and I hadn't picked up again in more than 40 years!
I look forward to meeting new students, greeting familiar students, and collaborating with teachers and parents!
Please feel free to contact me at any time (651-325-2563) with questions or comments.
Sharon Armus
