Welcome Mathematicians to Capitol Hill!
Are you ready for a new school year? I am excited to begin this school year! In math we will be covering the four strands in the Minnesota math standards; Number and Operations, Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Data Analysis and Probability. I love seeing math in the real-world!
This is my 13th year teaching and I can not think of any job I would rather have. After I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato I moved to California to start my teaching career. I spent six years teaching math, science, and AVID at a middle school. I have been teaching Pre-Algebra at Capitol Hill for five years.
A variety of hobbies keep me well rounded. I love crafting - crocheting, knitting, and making cards I also enjoying being outside. I spent this summer tutoring, working in my gardens, camping, kayaking, and riding motorcycles. This summer I spent 7 days traveling to Oregon City. We put on 4,072 miles on our motorcycles. Some of the highlights were riding to the top of Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens, visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument, Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, and ERB-1. We mapped out each day and used our math skills to calculate mileage and distances. I can't wait for fall rides to look at the leaves changing color.
