Two offices at SPPS play key roles in admissions at Capitol Hill.
The Student Placement Center administers the applications and enrollment process, and provides guidance and resources for school selection.
The Talent Development & Acceleration Services (formerly Gifted Services) establishes eligibility criteria for G/T services, coordinates assessment tests to identify academically gifted and talented students, and provides various resources for SPPS and families.
In SPPS the portfolio process is an alternative way to identify gifted learners. According to the National Association of Gifted Children (NAGC), using a standardized test may not accurately effectively identify all students. Portfolio reviews may include: student demographic information, academic test scores, multi-dimensional holistic rating scales, parent inventory, and student work samples. Family members, school teachers/staff/administrators, or community members can recommend a student for the portfolio process. Please visit the portfolio process overview page for more information.
The student portfolio process remains open until January 26, 2017.
The portfolio process is entirely online.
All forms are available on the Talent Development and Acceleration Services site.
Students must reside in the city of St. Paul in order to have a portfolio submitted.
