Information Regarding Upcoming Performance
Dear Parents, Cast and Backstage/Production Crew,
As we come closer to May, I wanted to mention some important information about rehearsals and the performance date. Backstage/Production Crew, you will notice the next two times you rehearse, we will need your help until 5:00. This is because we are painting backdrops. If you are unable to stay this late on these days (April 14th and April 21st), please let Ms. Jenkins know ASAP. We might not need to stay late on the 21st depending upon how much we get done on the 14th.
Cast and Backstage Crew, will notice that the April 22nd and 29th and the two rehearsals in May are from 3:00-5:00. The extended time is so we can practice on stage using the lights, sound, set, etc. Please plan in advance for these special rehearsal days. It is crucial we have EVERYONE in the cast and backstage crew here on these days from 3:00-5:00: April 22, April 29, May 5, May 6 (these days are outlined on your child’s contract). Have your child bring a snack on the days that they are scheduled to stay until 5:00. Production Crew you will not need to come to these days unless some students cannot attend the performance that are in the backstage crew, this will be discussed at the rehearsals in April.
Just a reminder, your child MUST be picked up when rehearsal ends. No one is here to supervise them and it can become very dangerous for them to be left alone. Please find people to car pool with or make another arrangement for your son or daughter (Discovery Club). Ms. Jenkins is not a babysitter and will not be available to supervise your child after rehearsal. If children are being left unsupervised after rehearsal, I will ask that you remove your son or daughter from the play. I don’t want to be this harsh, but it is a major safety issue!
Notice that ALL lines, songs, and dances need to be memorized by April 14th. Most students have started this memorization process already. Please encourage them to practice over Spring Break even if they “think they know it.” It is important for us to work on projection, enunciation, (so you can hear them during the performance!) and clarifying actions during April and May not memorization.
Parents will need to provide their child with a basic costume for “No Strings Attached.”
All CAST will need to provide:
• White Shirt (short sleeve may be more comfortable, NO tank tops)
• Dark pants that can be rolled up to look like knickers
• Plain dark socks
• Dark shoes that are comfortable for dancing (NO skateboarding, basketball like shoes)
CHORUS will need in addition to basic costume:
- Oversized white long sleeve shirt.
Other costumes will be provided for main characters. Please check the costume list attached for what else your child should bring. Some costumes will be provided. If you have a question, please e-mail Ms. Jenkins.
Costumes for Backstage crew includes:
• Clothes that can get paint or get dirty for rehearsals.
• Black clothes and shoes for performance (no writing on shirts!)
Pictures for the play will be made available again this year. You may order them on the performance night, May 8th. There will be order forms and a picture display to choose from. Pictures prices will run about $3.00 for 8 pictures or you can get a CD that you can print pictures at home for about $5.00.
This year we are having Toes Productions video tape and edit the performance. DVDs will be available for about $15.
