Autobiography Projects Due May 6! As a result of studying many extraordinary people through our Biography research project, we discovered many commonalities among our subjects. For example, many of the people studied showed an interest or passion towards learning and their subject matter while they were children. Many had to persevere and/or overcome hardships to pursue their area of interest and others dedicated their entire lives to their field of study.
So . . . will these commonalities be true for first graders? What are their interests or passions? What can they dedicate themselves to for a long period of time? Where might these interests lead them?
"Once Upon a Lily Pad" hits the stage! The four first grade classes presented the musical, "Once Upon a Lily Pad," on April 17, 2008, to great reviews by older students and parents. Parental favorites include the songs, "Listen to your parents," and "Let your light shine." The first graders practiced hard for many weeks under the artistic direction of Drama/Music teacher Wanda Jenkins. Thanks to the many parent volunteers who made costumes, assisted with dance instruction and attended weekly practices!
Biography Projects Are In. We are learning about the lives of a number of Americans who have lived during the last 200 years. By studying biographies we will be able to learn about the history of our country. We will see how individuals have challenged themselves to excel in areas that have enriched our lives as well. We are using a timeline to record the birthdates of the people we study.
